![]() I realized it's because I didn't have anything to look forward to. Halfway through the story, I wondered why I didn't care about what happened to the main characters anymore, even though I had started the book caring. It did not.īut what's worse, to me, is that it feels like nothing is happening throughout most of the book. ![]() You'll see a lot of reviews about how abrupt and unsatisfying the ending was, which is true-I didn't expect it to resolve the series plotline, because I was aware that this wasn't going to be the final book, but I did expect it to at least resolve some of the plotlines introduced in this book. There's no increase in difficulty or one great climactic challenge at the end they need to overcome it's the same thing, time after time, until the book is over. There are four POV characters, and each of their storylines is the same: they're in a challenging situation at the beginning of the book, and they deal with it over and over until the book ends. ![]() ![]() Since most of the other people on this thread seemed to enjoy it, I can explain what I didn't like about it, though of course everyone has their own opinions. I disliked it enough to leave one of the two-star reviews on Amazon, and I'm a huge Brent Weeks fan. ![]()
